Helping kids, families, and clinicians understand pain differently
I want to turn research knowledge into better health and happier lives. Below you’ll find my papers, plus the stories behind them, the people I’ve worked with, and practical resources that spin off from the science.
My role: I’m a full-time academic (40% research, 40% teaching, 20% engagement) in the MPhysio postgraduate degree at UTS. I’m a Senior Lecturer (Level C — “Associate Professor” in the US) supervising 2 PhD candidates, 1 MRes candidate, and co-supervising 4 more. My first PhD student graduated in October 2025. As of January 2026, I’ve been awarded AUD$1,689,483 in research funding.
Recent news: In 2025 I also took on the leadership of a new AI Research Node at UTS. Our team of 38 researchers has launched 3 projects and is building global partnerships to answer clinical questions about AI in healthcare. We see evaluation and benchmarking of patient-facing GenAI as critical for health researchers.
The Concept of Pain Inventory (COPI) is now online!
